Disney Cruise Line Treasure Box Gives Hints of the Adventure to Come

August 28, 2023 by Jamie Winters Morgan

Adventure is getting ready to set sail with Disney Treasure!  I am Jamie Morgan, travel agent and Disney Cruise Line expert with Be Our Guest Vacations.  Cruising with Disney Cruise Line is my family’s favorite way to experience the Disney magic and explore new destinations while still leaving time for relaxation.  With seven cruises under my belt and two more currently on the books, I’m always looking for new ways to sail with Disney Cruise Line, and the new Disney Treasure setting sail in 2024 has me so excited!

Be Our Guest Vacations was lucky enough to be among a small group of hand selected adventurers to receive a special package with hints for what will be revealed about the spaces aboard the Disney Treasure in just a few more days!  Disney Cruise Line is set to reveal details about the all-new Disney Treasure on Wednesday, August 30 at 11:00 am Eastern time. The Unlocking the Disney Treasure: Adventure Awaits Onboard Disney’s Newest Ship virtual grand reveal event will be live streamed on the Disney Parks Blog to share the new experiences and adventures awaiting guests on the newest addition to the Disney Cruise Line fleet currently under construction at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.

The exterior of the package is covered in images that harken back to stamps on vintage traveling trunks, and those images are hinting at some exciting things to come!

  • Neverland
  • Jungle Cruise
  • Moana
  • Castaway Cay
  • The Haunted Mansion
  • Spider-Man
  • Coco
  • Aladdin

Inside the package is a beautiful locked wooden Treasure box and a letter from explorer Arthur Quinn, where he explains that he has stumbled upon something in his grandmother’s study that will lead us to a new adventure!  He also gives a hint about how to open the Treasure box, which is a puzzle within itself!

Once the Treasure box was opened, we discovered a map in the shape of the new cruise ship, covered in imagery from some of our favorite Disney movies, attractions & characters!

Some of those images give us hints at a few details that we already know about this new ship including:

  • The Palace of Agrabah - We already know that the atrium will be inspired by the mystery of a gilded palace and will feature a statue of Aladdin, Jasmine and Magic Carpet.
  • Captain Hook’s Ship and Mermaid Lagoon from Peter Pan - It was recently announced that Peter Pan and Captain Hook will be the larger than life characters on the stern of the ship.

Though we can’t know at this point if these spaces will be similar, some other images on the Treasure map remind me of similar spaces aboard other Disney Cruise Line ships:

  • The Omnidroid from the Incredibles - The Disney Wish has an Incredibles themed activity zone & sports court.
  • A snowy scene from Frozen - The Disney Wish has a Frozen themed main dining room restaurant, and the Disney Wonder and Disney Fantasy have Frozen stage shows.
  • Cogsworth & Lumiere near a cluster of roses - The Disney Wish has an adult dining section with restaurants themed to both of these characters and a lounge themed to the Enchanted Rose.
  • Mickey & Friends food stands - The Disney Wish has a series of quick service food counters themed to Mickey & his pals.
  • Rex & Trixie splashing in some geysers - The Disney Wish has a Toy Story themed splash area.
  • X-wing Spacecraft - The Disney Wish has a Star Wars themed bar called Hyperspace Lounge.
  • Rapunzel’s Tower - The Disney Wish has a Tangled themed salon and the Disney Magic has a Tangled themed main dining room restaurant.

Most of the images on the Treasure map, however, are complete mysteries, and we’ll have to wait for more details to be revealed:

  • The village of Santa Cecilia from Coco
  • Pride Rock from The Lion King
  • The Indian jungle from The Jungle Book
  • The Cave of Wonders from Aladdin
  • Spaceship Earth from EPCOT surrounded by mountains
  • The Nautilus from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
  • The river and boat from The Jungle Cruise
  • A Mulan inspired reflecting pond
  • A lazy river being looked over by Lifeguard Goofy
  • A mysterious pyramid with a snake slithering out of it
  • Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps from Zootopia enjoying some Paw-psicles
  • And more!  What other details do you spy on the map?

This Disney Treasure Box has me so excited to see what Disney Cruise Line will be announcing on August 30th! Follow along here where we will share more details as we get them.
