Lightsabers, Droids & Blue Milk: Your Star Wars Guide at Walt Disney World

May 2, 2025 by Michelle Davila

As someone who’s loved the Star Wars movies for as long as I can remember, I always wished that I could explore this world in real life. Enter Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, which feels alive with the energy of my favorite movies, from the hum of the Millennium Falcon to the sights and sounds trickling out of a nearby cantina. But the truth is, you don’t need to be a lifelong Star Wars fan to enjoy everything this land has to offer! With immersive theming, interactive attractions, and galactic dining, this land is ready to be explored by anyone with a spirit of adventure or love of great storytelling.

I recently visited this land with one of my close friends, who admittedly knows nothing about Star Wars. What started as showing her around my favorite attractions and hidden secrets in the park ended up as one of the best days we’ve spent together! To get there, we needed to travel to a galaxy far, far away and land on Planet Batuu, which is conveniently nestled in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Once we arrived at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, we spent time exploring Black Spire Outpost, which is a hotspot for traders, smugglers, and rebels. But we still had to be on the lookout, because we ended up running into a few Stormtroopers (or “Startroopers,” as my friend calls them) patrolling the area! Depending on your allegiances, they might be someone you’re looking forward to seeing or someone you need to avoid. The best part? Rebel, Jedi, or First Order Sympathizer (no judgment here!), anyone is welcome to become the main character in your own Star Wars story!

Fuel Up for Your Next Adventure

It’s quite a journey travelling to a new planet, and you’re sure to have worked up an appetite. You’ll need to make a pit stop for some galactic grub, and don’t sleep on Ronto Roasters! You’ll know you arrived when you see an open-air grill, the spit slowly being rotated by a friendly droid (if you stay a while, you might hear him quietly say to himself, “Turn… turn… turn…”). While they’re known for their savory grilled sausages, I really enjoy Ronto Roasters the most for breakfast. Be sure to try the Ronto Morning Wrap! Bonus points if you place a mobile order on the My Disney Experience app, so your food will be ready in 12 parsecs or less (approximately). It’s easier than a Jedi mind trick!

For lunch, you have to stop by Docking Bay 7 Food & Cargo. Trust me on this. Try the Pirjanad Hot Chicken Tip Yip (also known as “spicy chipotle chicken” on your home planet of Earth) or the Batuuan Beef and Crispy Topato, but absolutely do not miss the Felucian Falafel and Hummus Garden Spread. Don’t know what it is? Neither do I. (Upon very easy research, it’s chickpea falafel, roasted beet hummus, and beet-tomato-cucumber relish with pita). Not typically a plant-based eater? Doesn’t matter. This healthy option is extra refreshing in the middle of a hot Florida Batuuan day. Finish with some Moof Juice and you’re one step closer to being fully integrated into this interstellar fandom.

Remember that scene in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope where Luke drinks the Bantha milk? Just me? Well, you can channel your inner Skywalker and try the green and blue milk from the Milk Stand! People are very divided on their favorites, so try both and cast your vote (Team Blue Milk here!). Fun tip: there are alcoholic versions of both options for the adults in your travel party!

If you’re a caffeine fiend like myself, stop by Kat Saka’s Kettle and grab a Cold Brew Black Caf. Make this a priority – it’s delightful and topped with chocolate puffs. And while you’re there, pick up some sweet and spicy Outpost Popcorn Mix! These themed snacks are my favorite ways to fuel up when visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It’s easy to satisfy your appetite while feeling totally immersed in this world.

Live Like a Local

Stop by the local watering hole, known as Oga’s Cantina, to meet fellow travelers or host secret Rebellion-focused meetings! When I travel with friends, their top favorites include the mouth-numbing Fuzzy Tauntaun and refreshing Jedi Mind Trick, but I’m partial to the non-alcoholic Cliff Dweller… especially because it comes in a Porg mug. While you’re enjoying your libations, listen to the music of DJ R-3X, the galaxy’s best droid DJ! He’s hanging out in the left corner of Oga’s Cantina, and I always make a point to stop and say hello when I’m in the area.

For Force-sensitive Jedi and Padawans, be sure to visit Savi’s Workshop - Handbuilt Lightsabers. This secret location has been kept hidden from the prying eyes of the First Order, but luckily, I’ll give you the inside scoop on how to experience this (hint: make a reservation!). This is truly an experience, and while I don’t want to give too much away, I can tell you that you’ll be able to make a highly customized lightsaber that will be a keepsake for years to come. Are you traveling with Younglings who enjoy a good lightsaber battle, or you’re on more of a smuggler’s budget? In that case, check out the toy lightsaber options at Tatooine Traders!

Every galactic adventurer needs their own astromech sidekick (hello, R2D2!) and you’ll be able to create your very own droid friend at Droid Depot. Pick from a BB or R2 unit, select your pieces from a rotating belt of options, and add a personality chip! When I visited a couple years ago, my husband and our friends each made their own droid and a highlight of our trip was watching them interact together. It was both a surprise and delight to find that one of our friends accidentally put a C-series personality chip in her droid, and it would laugh in an alarmingly low register. (If you know who Chopper is, you know what I mean!)

Reservations are available for all of these experiences and we highly recommend making them as soon as you’re able. Thankfully, Obi-Wan Kenobi isn’t your only hope! These reservations can be booked 60 days in advance of your trip and are made even easier with the help of a Be Our Guest Vacations travel professional. We’re here to help you secure even hard-to-get reservations, so you can focus on making memories with your family!

Light Side? Dark Side? Try Adventurous Side!

While in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, there are two attractions you won’t want to miss: Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is a multi-sensory experience, including dodging blasters, escaping some tricky situations, and getting an up-close look at some of your favorite heroes and villains. Tip: be sure to get a Lightning Lane Single Pass for this attraction! Your dedicated Be Our Guest Vacations travel professional will give you all the tips and tricks to help you book your desired Lightning Lane experiences.

Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run takes you inside, you guessed it, the Millennium Falcon! You’ll even be able to walk past the infamous Dejarik holochess table on your way to the attraction. There are several roles you could be assigned while flying the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy: Pilot, Gunner, or Engineer. (Don’t worry if you’re not the Pilot – in fact, the other two roles are actually my favorites!) My favorite detail in this attraction is that the Millennium Falcon will reflect how well you do… or don’t do… when you walk out through the hallway at the end of the ride. You’ll see what I mean! Note: while this ride is a lot of fun for kids, teens, and adults, the screens and simulator may affect some guests who are prone to motion sickness.

Check Out the Park After Dark

Every time I walk through Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, I’m greeted by a new surprise or hidden detail I didn’t see before. Look around and you’ll see droid tracks on the ground, which came from a real R2D2 droid from Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. Or, when filling up your water bottle in the Marketplace, be sure to keep an eye out for the Dianoga in the water tank above you…

However, this area truly comes alive in a brand new way at night. Once dusk hits, the sun is low, but the land glows from the ground up with purple, orange, and white light. If you look towards the sky, you’ll see you’re surrounded by towering, ancient remains of mountainous trees, or spires. (Yep, that’s where Black Spire Outpost gets its name!) If you picked up a lightsaber from Savi’s Workshop, this is the perfect opportunity to take a picture in front of the Millennium Falcon once the darkness settles in! This is the time where Black Spire Outpost truly blurs the lines between reality and fantasy, setting the backdrop on the most exciting story being told – your own.

Ready to live your own Star Wars story? Whether you’re a lifelong fan or just curious about this out-of-this-world land, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is packed with unforgettable adventures, epic eats, and immersive details you have to see to believe.
