Summer House on the Lake at Disney Springs: Dining Review

February 27, 2024 by Jamie Winters Morgan

A new dining location has opened recently at Walt Disney World's Disney Springs, and it evokes breezy beachy vibes and offers sophisticated but casual cuisine. Summer House on the Lake is located in the West Side neighborhood of Disney Springs and is open for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch.

My family was visiting on a rainy February evening, and our table on the front patio was near a cozy heater and had great people watching views of Disney Springs. We started our meal with the signature guacamole service, which also included a trio of fresh salsas and the potato salad deviled eggs. I enjoyed the Taylor Swift inspired "lavender haze" cocktail, made with aviation gin, blueberry, lavender, & lemon.

For entrees, we chose several different options to share. The herbed chicken breast paillard was served with a lightly dressed arugula salad and was fresh tasting and well seasoned. The grouper fish and chips were served with deliciously salty malt vinegar shoestring French fries and a creamy tartar sauce that was perfect for dipping. The crispy chicken sandwich was topped with avocado and a buttermilk dressing and served with crispy fries. Our younger son was very excited to see a breakfast-for-dinner option on the kid's menu and he thoroughly enjoyed his chocolate chip silver dollar pancakes with bacon and fruit.

We really enjoyed our dinner at Summer House on the Lake! It is a great option for families that want a more upscale dining experience but aren't very adventurous eaters. The menu is full of delicious classic American dishes with California freshness. It would also be a great place for adults to meet up for cocktails and appetizers before a show at the nearby House of Blues or Drawn to Life by Cirque du Soleil.

Summer House on the Lake is also home to the walk-up spot The Cookie Bar, a "dessert-focused market" serving (you guessed it!) a huge variety of fresh cookies and other desserts, along with beverages including specialty coffee, beer, wine, and cocktails. Unfortunately, we were too stuffed after our meal to have room for cookies, but my kids have insisted that we return on a future visit!

Currently, reservations for Summer House on the Lake are only available through OpenTable.com, but that may change in the future, so ask your Be Our Guest Vacations travel agent and they will be able to help!
