There’s a lot to look forward to at Disneyland Resort in the next two years.
Our team was on-site at D23 as Disney shared a closer look at what’s ahead for the theme parks. And while Walt Disney World Resort had plenty of big announcements at the convention, we got insight into what’s coming to Disneyland Resort, too.
From a major reimagining of Tomorrowland to the first-ever Coco attraction, there are some exciting changes on the horizon.
Here’s what we learned and what you can look forward to on future Disneyland vacations!
Tomorrowland Is Getting a New Tomorrow
One of the biggest surprises of the night came from Disneyland Park, where Disney announced that Tomorrowland will be reimagined.
Tomorrowland has been part of Disneyland since opening day in 1955, and Disney says its next chapter will honor the land’s history while looking toward the future. Imagineers are developing new attractions and experiences, along with more open spaces throughout the land. The panel promised innovation, optimism, and possibility will all be at the heart of the new design.
Disney hasn’t revealed what the new attractions will be or which existing Tomorrowland experiences may stay, change, or go. This project is still early in development, so expect to hear much more in the years ahead!
Get Ready for the First-Ever Coco Attraction
Over at Disney California Adventure Park, the colorful world of Coco is coming to life with the first-ever Disney Parks attraction based on the Pixar film.
The new family-friendly boat ride will take place one year after the events of Coco. Guests will join Miguel as he shares his memories of the Land of the Dead, beginning with a queue inside a “casa museo” dedicated to the music of his great-great-grandfather, Héctor Rivera.
Imagineers are looking to classic attractions like Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion for inspiration, while new Audio-Animatronics technology will help bring the film’s skeletal characters into the physical world. Disney is also working closely with Pixar as development continues on both the attraction and Coco 2.
And there’s especially good news for families traveling with little ones: there will be no height requirement, making this a new experience everyone can enjoy together.
Disney hasn’t announced an opening date yet, but construction is already underway.
Avengers Campus Is About to Get Bigger…And Even More Super
Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure is expanding with two new attractions, eventually doubling the size of the land and creating a new pathway connecting Avengers Campus with Cars Land. We got more details about the new rides including story and what characters will be involved.
First up is Avengers Infinity Defense, a multiverse-spanning adventure that turns guests into Avengers recruits. After a briefing from Ms. Marvel, recruits will travel between worlds like Asgard, Wakanda, and New York City to reassemble the Avengers and stop King Thanos. Disney is combining large physical sets with media to bring the different worlds to life.
There will be plenty of familiar faces along the way. Jeremy Renner will return as Hawkeye, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, and Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man.
The second attraction, Stark Flight Lab, puts you inside one of Tony Stark’s latest experiments. Guests will board two-person gyro-kinetic pods before a giant robotic arm picks them up and sends them through a series of flight maneuvers inspired by the Avengers. Robert Downey Jr., Anthony Mackie, and Brie Larson will appear as Iron Man, Captain America, and Captain Marvel.
Both Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab are scheduled to open in 2028.
Crowd-Favorite Disneyland Entertainment Makes a Return in 2027
Disney also confirmed that a few familiar favorites will return to Disneyland Resort in 2027.
“Remember… Dreams Come True” Returns
Beginning in February 2027, “Remember… Dreams Come True” will return to Disneyland Park with a refreshed version of the nighttime spectacular. The show will feature its familiar music and vocal introduction by Julie Andrews, with projections appearing at Sleeping Beauty Castle, Rivers of America, “it’s a small world,” and Main Street, U.S.A. Music and projections will be presented nightly, with fireworks on select evenings.
The Original “World of Color” Returns
Disney California Adventure will also welcome back an updated version of the original “World of Color” in February 2027. The nighttime spectacular will once again fill Paradise Bay with scenes from Disney and Pixar favorites like The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Finding Nemo, and Toy Story.
“Magic Happens” Returns for Summer
And if you’re planning a summer trip, “Magic Happens” will return to Disneyland Park in summer 2027. Mickey Mouse and friends will once again lead the colorful daytime parade featuring music, costumes, floats, and characters from Disney and Pixar stories.
So, When Should You Plan Your Next Disneyland Vacation?
There’s something exciting ahead no matter when your next Disneyland trip happens.
If 2027 is already on your radar, you’ll have returning entertainment like “Remember… Dreams Come True,” the original “World of Color,” and “Magic Happens” to look forward to. Marvel fans may want to keep 2028 in mind, when Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab are currently scheduled to open.
And then there are the big projects we’re still waiting on! Disney hasn’t announced opening dates for the Coco attraction or the reimagined Tomorrowland, so there will be even more to look forward to beyond the experiences already on the calendar.
