Top Tips For Beating The Heat At Disney This Summer
July 3, 2024 by Laura Pitcher

Heading to the most magical place on Earth this summer? Good! With exciting new attractions, like Tiana’a Bayou Adventure opening, Communicore Hall in EPCOT, and other exciting recent additions to the park, like TRON Lightcyle/Run, there has never been a better time to plan a getaway to see Mickey.
Summer is my favorite time of the year - most likely a holdout from childhood memories of it being the time of year we had off school and my own family would go on vacation together. I love getting to recreate those memories with my own family as an adult - and nowhere is better for creating lasting memories than Walt Disney World. While Orlando in summer can be hot, a warm day at Disney is better than a day anywhere. Also, did you know that crowds are actually LOWER during the summer, especially in August? Summer break is no longer considered peak season, so it's a great time to plan a family getaway! This is also a time of year that Disney offers great discounts and promotions - which Be Our Guest Vacations can help you secure, so you experience the magic without breaking the bank! Today, we’re sharing some of our best tips for beating the heat while on vacation at Walt Disney World this summer. And don’t forget - the team at Be Our Guest Vacations are seasoned Disney pros, who can help put together either the trip of a lifetime or your yearly getaway to the magic.
Arrive early and stay late
One of the perks of visiting in the summer months is that as more people travel when school is out, Walt Disney World usually has extended operating hours. A great way to avoid the heat is by getting to the park early or going after sunset. When you book a Walt Disney World hotel with Be Our Guest, you can have access to Early Theme Park Entry, which will allow you to get into the park 30 minutes before other guests. These 30 minutes can make a HUGE difference, especially when trying to ride some of the more popular attractions. If you’re a guest at a Deluxe Resort, you will have access to Extended Evening Hours, which are select nights that a park will stay open only for Deluxe Resort guests. I attended Extended Evening Hours over Spring Break this year, and crowds were so low that I was able to ride six rides in an hour and a half!

Utilize Genie+
Did you know that your travel professional at Be Our Guest Vacations is a Genie+ expert? They have the tips and tricks to make sure you don’t waste time standing in line - so you can enjoy more of your vacation. Genie+ is something I always try to build into my budget for a vacation, but I especially recommend utilizing it during the warm weather months - especially for rides that have an outdoor queue!
Take a midday break (and pick the right hotel!)
When planning a summer trip to Disney, I always recommend taking a midday break, to go back to your hotel, take a nap, and spend some time at the pool. It’s during this time of year that I always recommend splurging on a Disney hotel that’s known for its great pool. Some of my favorites are The Lava Pool at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, The Big Blue Pool at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, and the Copper Springs Pool at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort. Another bonus to the pool at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge? It’s a stone's throw from my favorite Disney cocktails, which you can find at Geyser Point Bar & Grill. You’ll be ready to go back to the parks in the evening, refreshed, and when it’s cooler out!

Pack the right things
If you aren’t from the South, you might not be as accustomed to the summer heat and humidity - packing the right kinds of things can be your best ally! I love to have lightweight, athletic clothing for the parks - if it’s made with a moisture-wicking fabric, even better! Plan to bring your most comfortable sneakers, and spend some time breaking them in before your trip! Try to bring a few pairs of backup sneakers and a good shoe that can get wet to - summer is known for it's quickly passing rain storms, and having a spare pair will make things easier. One of my favorite tips for a long day at the parks is packing a handheld fan, a misting fan, or a neck fan! If you add sunscreen to a grocery order that you're going to have delivered to your room, it will make packing even easier. Be Our Guest Vacations can help recommend the best grocery delivery services for your trip!
